In our research CHILDREN'S CANCER RECOVERY FOUNDATION comes at the 10th number to be the America's Worst Charity (We look at the details and Rank the Charities on the basis of Cash that they paid to Solicitors in the past decade).
Lets see why ...
OUR RANK: # 10
Children's Cancer Recovery Foundation was founded in 1990. Its mission is "to help the children under 18 years of age and their families who are facing the challenges of a cancer diagnosis."
Greg Anderson is the founder of the charity. He created an international network of eight charities from Harrisburg, Pa. to Berlin, Germany. His wife, Linda Anderson and his daughter, Erica Harvey , both are serving as the officers in two of the cancer charities.
The foundation does not pay Greg Anderson. But in 2011 , he was given more than $ 170,000 as the president of one of his other charities , Cancer Recovery Foundation International.
During the last decade, Children's Cancer Recovery Foundation has raised nearly about $ 35 million with the help of for-profit solicitors and paid them more than 80 percent of the total amount collected. The charity has spent an average amount of $ 21,000 per year to provide direct financial assistance to people who need help.
Anderson said that the solicitors of the charity also provided messages about cancer prevention and survival when they call to seek donations. This dual role allows the charity to calculate certain soliciting expenses under different charitable programs in the annual tax filings.
In addition, the charity receives millions of dollars a year in "gifts in kind" and donated medical supplies . The charity reported to receive the amount of $ 7.3 million in property given in its recently paid tax form. The organization didn't provide the documents requested by the CIR regarding that what kinda goods were collected or how they were assessed.
To procure medical supplies, Children's Cancer Recovery Foundation has also worked in assistance with World Help. World Help is an organization that collects donated items and partners with charities to ship them abroad or overseas.
In April 2013, World Help revealed that the organization had overstated the value and amount of the goods of its charity partners that it shipped many years . In a revised audit, World Help has reduced the value of its 2011 shipments to $ 5 million from $ 227 million.
