Perkins had been the vice president of the Cancer Fund. In 2004, He started Children Cancer Fund to America. In addition to the money raised through fundraising companies, the charity has received from Reynolds Cancer Fund a grant of $ 50,000 in 2010.
Since its inception, the organization has raised nearly $ 38 million and it let the professional fundraisers to keep nearly 78 percent of the total amount. The charity gave cash grants of about $ 300,000 per year to the seeking patients. The organization also reported shipping millions of dollars in medical supplies to developing countries each year through programs like "gifts-in-kind".
Perkins said she hopes to remove Children Cancer Fund of America from the concept of fundraisers.
